Udupi: Poornima J Kodavoor's Book of Short Stories Released

Udupi, Jan 14: ‘Tochidannu Geechidaaga’, a collection of short stories by postal department employee Poornima Janardhan Kodavoor was released by litterateur, thinker and spiritual advisor Ambalpadi Shripati Acharya at Ambalpadi Shree Janardhan Mahakali Devala Bhavaani Mantapa on Sunday January 13.
The programme was jointly organized by District Women Writers' Association and Rotary Malpe-Kodavoor.
Ambalpadi Sripati Acharya presided over the programme. In his address he said that litterature that gives peace of mind and sustains one's love for life is the best of its kind.
Chief guest Neelavara Surendra Adiga, president of District Sahitya Parishad said Poornima's experiences have taken the form of a book. "Experiences should be documented so that they can guide the future generation. Kannada Sahitya Parishad has been encouraging the youth to develop writing habits, district Kannada Sahitya Parishad will help the writers to publish their books. Nearly 70 percent of primary and high school students are engaged in writing which is a really good sign," he said.
Dr N B Vijay Ballal, administrative head of Ambalpadi Shree Janardhan Mahakali Temple, professor M L Samaga, president of Karnataka Yakshagana Bayalata Academy wished success to the programme.
Vasanthi Shetty Brahmavar, president of District Women Writers' Association welcomed. Mahesh Kumar, Rotary Malpe-Kodavoor delivered the vote of thanks.
Bhaskar Bhat, Kodavoor delivered the key-note address. Katyayini Kunjibettu introduced the book.
Poornima Janardhan also spoke on the occasion. Photojournalist Janardhan Kodavoor compered the programme.
Humour writer Ku Go, Katyayini Kunjibettu and artist James Vaz were honoured on the occasion.
