Ferrer Wins Heineken Open


Auckland, Jan 12 (IANS): Spanish top seed David Ferrer Saturday won the Heineken Open men's tennis tournament here beating German second seed Phillip Kohlschreiber in straight sets 7-6(5), 6-1 in the final.

World No.5 Ferrer won the first set in a tie break and took the second set 6-1, reports Xinhua.

It is Ferrer's fourth Heineken Open title and third in a row and that equals the record of the Australian great Roy Emerson.

Top seeds Colin Fleming of Britain and Bruno Soares of Brazil won the men's doubles title.
