D-Company imposter booked for sending vulgar SMSes


Panaji, Jan 8 (IANS) Police here booked a 30-year-old man for harassing a married woman by sending her vulgar texts messages claiming he was a member of international criminal Dawood Ibrahim's gang.

Police Inspector R.S. Prabhudesai told reporters here that the accused, Alex Pereira, had also been demanding Rs.56 crore from the complainant Analia Menezes.

"The accused posed as a member of D-Company when he was harassing her over the phone," the police official said.

According to Menezes' First Information Report (FIR), Pereira had been harassing her for a few weeks. He started by sending her indecent messages first, which slowly graduated into threats, including claims that he was a member of Dawood Ibrahim's cartel D-Company.
