Udupi, Jan 7: Kabaddi queen and pride of coastal region Mamatha Poojary is all set to tie the knot, in the third week of this month.
Mamatha, captain of the Indian Kabaddi team that won the World Cup last year, will marry Bangalore-based software engineer Abhishek Kotian, who hails from Udyavar, Udupi, on January 23.
The wedding is scheduled to be held at Kediyoor hotel in Udupi. The couple got engaged in October 2012.
Son of Udyavar Sanjeeva and Indira, Abhishek works in a software company in Bangalore. Mamatha, who hails from Hermunde in Karkala taluk, is the daughter of Bhoja and Kitti Poojary.
Though the engagement was a quiet affair with only close friends and family being present, the wedding is expected to be a grand one with over a thousand people on the guest list.
Sources in the family said that it was up to Mamatha to decide on whether she would continue to play after marriage.
Mamatha is presently in New Delhi undergoing training sessions, and is expected to return a week before the wedding.
