Sydney, Jan 6 (IANS): Australia secured a five-wicket win in the third and final Test match against Sri Lanka here at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) Sunday, providing the home side with a 3-0 series win in Mike Hussey's last match.
Australia wrapped up the match just after tea on day four after dismissing Sri Lanka for 278 in their second innings just before the lunch break with Jackson Bird and Mitchell Johnson snaring three wickets each.
Australia chased down the target of 141 losing five wickets in the process just after tea on the final day with Hussey 27 not out.
Sri Lanka had scored 294 in the first innings after which Australia took a lead scoring 432/9 declared, Matthew Wade top scoring with 102 not out.
The two countries next play the five-match bilateral One-Day International (ODI) series starting Jan 11 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
