Bangalore: Tenth World Kannada Cultural Convention to be Held in England

Bangalore, Jan 6: Hrudayavahini Balaga, Mangalore in collaboration with UK Kannada Balaga will organize the tenth World Kannada Cultural Convention and decennial celebrations on May 25 and May 26 in Manchester, England.
A poets' meet, comedy show, press meet and non-resident Kannadigas' meet will be held during the event. Cultural programmes including Bharathanatyam, skits and Yakshagana will enthrall the audience.
Previously, nine international conferences have been held in various places like 2004, 2012 in Abu Dhabi; 2005, 2012 in Singapore, 2006 to 2011 Bahrain, 2007 Kuwait, 2008 Qatar, and 2010 in Dubai.
In UK, there are more than 3,000 Kannadigas, and a large number of them are expected to participate in the convention, apart from dignitaries and guests from outside UK. There are also provisions for businessmen to exhibit their products.
Karnataka chief minister and Kannada and cultural department minister will be invited on May 25 to inaugurate the convention.
On May 26 evening, union ministers from Karnataka will be invited for the valedictory.
More than 100 members from various parts of the state and nation will take part in the cultural convention.
Women members will also elect a convention president from among those who have worked hard in the field of literature and culture.
On this occasion, the 'Vishwa Manava 2012' award will be presented to achievers in different fields.
Hrudayavahini special issue will be released during the event.
