Mangalore: Ave Maria Palliative Care Hosts Helping Hands Evening

Mangalore, Jan 6: The first annual Helping Hands evening was organized by Ave Maria Palliative Care on its premises at Mangala Nagara, Vamanjoor recently.
Dr Henry D’Souza, Bishop of Bellary, Dr C P Habeeb Rahman, chairman and medical director of Unity Care and Health Services, Brahmakumari Vishveshwari, chief of Brahma Kumaris, Mangalore were the chief guests.
About 60 family members of patients who have left for their heavenly abode from Ave Maria hospice unit participated in the candlelight vigil in memory of their deceased loved ones.
Fr Archibald Gonsalves, provincial, Karnataka-Goa Province of Discalced Carmelities delivered the welcome address. Prof Rita Noronha, director of Centre for Development, Studies and Education proposed the vote of thanks. The programme was compered by Prof Malini Hebbar from St Agnes College.
An auction of paintings and art pieces donated by philanthropists was conducted by Col John Serrao and Prof Gleron Quadros as a fund raiser. Major benefactors of Ave Maria were felicitated with eco-friendly saplings of fruit-bearing trees. The programme concluded with a fellowship meal.
