Mangalore: Kasba Brothers Lift Karavali Football Cup

Mangalore, Jan 5: The Karavali Cup football tournament, jointly organized by the Karavali Utsav Samiti and DK District Football Association, drew to an end on Saturday, January 5.
As many as 26 teams participated in the 11-day tournament that was inaugurated on December 26, 2012.
Azaria of Kandak and Kasba brothers of Kasba Bengre reached the finals. A hard-fought match saw Kasba Brother emerge as the winners, with a score of 1-0.
The trophy was handed over to the winners and the runners-up at a formal function by Dr Nidarsh Hegde, home guards commandent.
In his presidential addres, Dr Hegde said that Karavali Utsav is not just an exhibition, but a festival. "In order to support sports, Aslam (president of DK District Football Association) and I urged the administration to organize sports events and as a result, the football tournament has been held," he said.
The tournament was held as part of the ongoing annual Karavali Utsav.
D M Aslam, president, D K District Football Association, Anil K P, Mohammed Ussain Bolar, Moideen Usman, Umesh Ucchil and others were present.
