Puttur, Jan 5: The elephant which vented its anger and created havoc on Tuesday January 1, and which even killed mahout Chandra on Wednesday night ,was finally sent to Kantapur Elephant Camp near Mysore on Friday January 4.
On Friday, three elephants - Abhimanyu, Harsha and Vikram were called from the camp. With their help, the forest officials were successful in tying up Laxmisha.
An interesting battle ensued as Abhimanyu, using his power all alone, pushed elephant Laxmisha inside the cage which was placed in the lorry.
Initially, when Abhimanyu tried to push Laxmisha, the latter tried to escape. But as Abhimanyu had experience of battling with more than 200 elephants, Laxmisha was overpowered.
The three elephants which were called from the camp were also taken in separate lorries. The entire process took place with the help of Nagarahole veterinary doctor Uma Shankar, Abhimanyu's mahout Vasanth and with the help of other mahouts.
Laxmisha's mahout Varadraj was seen weeping while his elephant was put in the cage. He also pleaded the forest officials not to harm the elephant.
The total cost of the operation was Rs 5 lac, said the forest officials. The entire sum will be collected from the elephant's owner, they said.
