Johannesburg, Jan 4 (IANS): One of the world's top mountain bikers Burry Stander, who took part in two Olympics, was killed in a road accident while training near his home in South Africa.
The 25-year-old South African died Thursday after colliding with a taxi in the Kwazulu-Natal province on South Africa's east coast, Xinhua reported quoting the South African Sports Confederation and Olympic Committee.
Stander, South Africa's biggest star in the sport, finished fifth in last year's London Olympics and competed in Beijing 2008. He was also a former under-19 and under-23 world champion.
