Mangalore: Devotees Throng Garodi Temple on Annual Festival

Mangalore, Jan 3: The annual festival of Shree Brahma Baiderkala Garodi Temple, popularly known as Kankanady Garodi, was celebrated from December 27 to 31, here.
The flag hoisting ceremony took place on December 27 at around 11.45 am. The Vishnumoorthy festival was celebrated on December 28 while Kodamanithaya Nema was held on December 29.
The Baidarkala Jatra was organized on December 30 after 8 pm, followed by Mayandal Devi festival on December 31.
Annadhanam was organized from December 28 to 31.
As part of its third renovation project, 100 sovereigns of gold were offered to the Temple, of which 60 sovereigns were offered by the devotees on the flag-hoisting day.
Devotional music concert by award winning twin sisters, Sheela Divakara and Sahila Satish and team was also held at night.
The Punarpratishta anniversary was celebrated on Wednesday January 2. Kalashabisheka was performed, followed by Bali Utsav and Annadana. Yakshagana ‘Deyi Baidethi’ was also held at 7 pm.
Bajrang Dal, Pumpwell unit organized a patriotic variety show, ‘Vande Mataram’, at Pumpwell as part of the festival.
Thousands of locals and regional devotees, leaders including Shree Athmanada Saraswathi Swamiji of Shree Kshetra Kanyadi, Kota Srinivas Poojary, state endowment minister, Nalin Kumar Kateel, MP, Umanath Kotian, president, Tulu Sahitya Academy, Rohitaksha Bolar, personnel assistant of Uddhav Thackeray and several others took part.
