Mangalore: Another Journalist Arrested in Home Stay Incident

Mangalore, Jan 2: Even as journalist Naveen Soorinje continues to be in custody in connection with the infamous attack on a home stay at Padil, the police on Wednesday January 2 took another journalist into custody.
The arrested is Sharan, a cameraman with a Kannada news channel.
He was arrested by Kankanady rural police led by Ravish Naik from his office in Pandeshwar.
The police also arrested Santosh, resident of Shaktinagar, another accused in the case.
Sources said that Santosh is also an accused in a murder case.
Sharan and Santosh were produced before the district magistrate the same evening and remanded in judicial custody.
Sharan's arrest comes almost two months Kankanady police arrested Naveen Soorinje, who was taken into custody on November 7, 2012 in a flash operation. Since then, he has been repeatedly denied bail, including by the high court.
On July 28, 2012, activists allegedly belonging to HJV attacked boys and girls who were celebrating a birthday at Morning Mist home stay at Padil.
