Mangalore: Another Journalist Arrested in Home Stay Incident

Mangalore, Jan 2: Even as journalist Naveen Soorinje continues to be in custody in connection with the infamous attack on a home stay at Padil, the police on Wednesday January 2 took another journalist into custody.

The arrested is Sharan, a cameraman with a Kannada news channel.

He was arrested by Kankanady rural police led by Ravish Naik from his office in Pandeshwar.

The police also arrested Santosh, resident of Shaktinagar, another accused in the case.

Sources said that Santosh is also an accused in a murder case.

Sharan and Santosh were produced before the district magistrate the same evening and remanded in judicial custody.

Sharan's arrest comes almost two months Kankanady police arrested Naveen Soorinje, who was taken into custody on November 7, 2012 in a flash operation. Since then, he has been repeatedly denied bail, including by the high court.

On July 28, 2012, activists allegedly belonging to HJV attacked boys and girls who were celebrating a birthday at Morning Mist home stay at Padil.

    The journalists may get lighter punishment for their negligence of duty and over acting in home stay incident. But the attackers should be given rigorous punishment at least for 10 years.

    Mr Shetty, you should watch the vedeo if you haven't for which our reporters are punished by the people who have your mindset. If your Social groups HJV people are there why rape cases increasing in our country? Every 20 minutes a woman is raped in our country. If possible please study the mindset of people why they rape babies, kids, old people.

    If the journalist is at wrong side of law, legal action is fine!
    As he knew the incident is going to take place !
    But who is main organizer of attacks to take law in his hands?
    Had he also forewarned about the incident to Police ?
    All the Attackers didn't come to the venue, at a time by default!

    The event of gay party at Morning mist at Padil, Mangalore and later twisted by vested interests like unsrupulous politicians,so many vedikes,Jaago Mangalore etc.,is unfoldong now and back firing them. Those vedikes,politiciains,vested interets protesting Navin Soorinje's arrest should inytensify their efforts now including the latest names of arrested fellow newsmen to their list.Jobless will again find job in Mangalore!!!

    When we defend “Justice for all” policy, then even concerned Journalist who photographed the incidents just for propaganda or publicity should not be spared too. When someone ignites fire to cause damage we should try to stop them instead of photographing for publicity. So, Ravish Naik doing his duty and great job to bring all the culprits under Justice. No one should be spared including perpetrators, illegal business Owner, Photographers, etc, etc

    When HJV activists acted on such illegal & immoral parties, many here went in hue & cry. Extreme Alcholoism , drugs, wine & women are some causes for such attrocities against Women. Media too is equally responsible for such incidents with increased tendency to give Flash news, Break News, Live coverage, etc. The reporter with insinct to gain publicity for himself & his media went to catch live coverage, than informing the Police. Just saying that they had reported to Police is nothing but effort to shift blame on Police. Had Media reporters informed Police authorities properly & timely, the incident would have been avoided. Reporters here are on par with Assaulters & definetly be brought to justice.

    According to August 2011 Daiji news:
    The assault on the young boys and girls by alleged Hindu Jana Jagarana Vedike (HJV) activists has received wide and intense criticism from people in India and abroad.
    Strangely, instead of finding fault with the perpetrators of the Morning Mist Home Stay attack, Manjula alleged in her report that the boys were under the influence of drugs, and that the police let them off easily without subjecting them to medical tests.
    Surprisingly, nowhere in the report was HJV's name mentioned!
    Why the authority is not taking action against Karnataka state Women's Commission chief Manjula for one-sided and highly biased investigation. Does she deserve the post of Karnataka state Women's Commission chief?

    When NAVIN SOORINJE arrested, all congi agents started firing gun at BJP Govt saying instead of arresting real culprits police arrested innocent journalist. After HC's decision of rejecting his bail plea, these congi agents had to shut their mouth and took U turn.

    I wonder why Ismail Perinje is silent now. He is the one who made MAXIMUM ANALYSIS after Soorinje's arrest.

    BJP want media persons who are cribbing against govt of it's shortcomings and weakness to be in the jail.Govt and media are two faces of the same coin as far as democracy concerned.But BJP govt thinks otherwise.Action of Karnataka govt is totally unacceptable and anti- constitutional.The world watched Kesari parivar's atrocities against hapless women in the HOME STAY ATTACK and hereafter no media man cover live atrocities against women or society by criminals.This revenge mentality of the govt will not deter the fourth estate of the DEMOCRACY.
