Now, Show Copy of Tickets on Your Phone for Air Travel
New Delhi, Jan 2 (DHNS): Now on, air passengers need not carry printouts of tickets to enter the airports as showing a soft copy of the ticket on mobile phone will suffice. However, producing a photo identity is mandatory.
The Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS), the nodal agency for civil aviation security, has relaxed the provisions for entry into the airports by allowing passengers to show soft copy of the air tickets on smart-phones, tablets or laptops.
A Civil Aviation Ministry official said: “We took into account demands from passengers to change over to this system. Also, it’s an environment-friendly gesture that will save paper and electricity. Tagging and stamping of the cabin baggage is next on the junked list.
“At present, cabin bag is stamped at the security area of the airport. A passenger will have to go back to the security area if a cabin bag is not stamped. This is a hassle and doing away with it will save time for passengers, airline staff and security personnel.”
The Indian Railways had started accepting soft copy of tickets about a year ago.
