Mangalore: White Doves Builds House for Needy Family at Tannirbavi
Media Release
Mangalore, Jan 1: On the eve of New Year, Monday December 31 at 4 pm at Tannirbavi, a two-bedroom tiled house built by White Doves, an NGO, for the family of Francis, an auto driver his wife Shobha and their three daughters, was officially blessed by Fr Sunil D’Souza, parish priest of Tannirbavi.
Francis approached White Doves to help build a home for his wife and three daughters as he could no longer live in the one room he had taken on rent, with his landlord constantly asking him to vacate and having no money to do so.
Having in his possession a little piece of land, White Doves came forward in consultation with the parish priest of Tannirbavi Fr Sunil to build the house. The entire house was built by White Doves and Francis, the proud owner will gradually return half the cost of the house in the months to come to help build a home for another needy family.
The ribbon was cut by Corrine Rasquinha, the founder of White Doves and the happy wife and children of Francis. The blessing of the house and prayers were led by Fr Sunil D'Souza.
After the prayers Corrine Rasquinha spoke a few words congratulating the family. She quoted the Bible, 'if God does not build the house in vain do the builders labour', and also asked the family to be a model family after the home of Jesus, Mary and Joseph. She assured the family their continued love and support.
A couple of months back White Doves also contributed to building the roof of a bachelor for his one-bedroom house and financially supported the completion of the house of a widow with two daughters.
When asked what made White Doves help with construction of houses in Tannirbavi, Jerome Coelho, the secretary-cum-treasurer replied, "We were moved by the sincere and tireless efforts of parish priest Fr Sunil to help his poor parishioners."
