Molestation Accused Youth Ends Life

New Delhi, Jan 1 (DHNS): A youth committed suicide and his friend attempted suicide after being arrested and then released on bail for harassing two girls in south Delhi’s Fatehpur Beri, police said.

The incident took place at New Manglapuri area on December 24. “We received a call at police control room that a few people were beating up a youth after he was caught harassing a girl at a bus stop,” said a senior police official.

A police team rushed to the spot and found that a youth was beaten up by few other youths. On enquiry, police found that a girl’s brothers and their friends were beating Chandrakant Singh, 19.

They were all brought to the police station where the girls lodged a case accusing three people for harassing them, including Chandrakant.

“He was arrested and released subsequently,” said the officer. One of the victims had lodged a case under section 509 of the Indian Penal Code against the three accused at the Mehrauli police station.

On questioning police found that Chandrakant along with Sonu Vaidhya, 19 and Mohit, 20, were students in Industrial Training Institute in Nizamuddin and both the victims, residents of Mehrauli, are students of Industrial Training Institute near Siri Fort.

Both accused and victims on regular basis board a bus on route number 413 for their respective institutes.

One victim said she along with her friends were admitted in the institute in September and the three youths were passing lewd comments on them from then itself. They had also warned them but to no avail.

So on December 24, they brought their brothers with them and were standing at the bus stop alone. The friends came there passed lewd comments again. Their brothers tried to catch hold of them. The others fled but Chandrakant ran inside the bus where he was caught and beaten up by the girl’s brothers. They also called the police control room.

The next day, unable to bear the shame of being arrested Chandrakant hung himself at his home. He was found dead in his room by his younger sister at around 2 pm on December 25, a senior police officer. His family members rushed him to Safdarjung Hospital where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival.

A suicide note recovered from him said he took the extreme step on his own and nobody should be blamed for it. When Sonu Vaidhya heard his friend had died, he too tried to commit suicide by consuming poison. He, however, survived after his family members rushed him to hospital, where he is recovering.

Do not blame on the schools, they have enough and more jobs to be done. Its the Parents, family environment that moulds the childs character basically.some parents pamper their children to the core.do not reprimand them on bad character or do not try to teach them moral values.they give them whatever they ask,do not know to share, show mercy to others, help others, thats the reason they grow up to be rapists, dacoits etc.they just want their children to be doctors and engineers and character does not matter to them....thats so sad

It is very sad that today's youth do not have proper values inculcated into them right from the beginning. What can be expected when there is no moral education. Children irrespective of caste, creed and religion should be brought up under a strict moral code. When we were going to school / convent when the catholic children had a catechism class the other children had a moral science session. This was general education on morals, ethics, and etiquette. Now because of the pressure from the government / social bodies who discriminate based on relgion and biased view that children will be brainwashed into change of religion this education is stopped in schools. Well this does not stop the parents from inculcating these values into children at home. Home is the first school, mother is the first teacher. Please do not expect the Schools / colleges to do this job. First of all teach the boys in your family that boys and girls are on par and boys are not superior. All work should be shared and not dumped on the girls to do. Secondly teach them to respect their female relatives. I have seen the youngest boy kicking his sisters and the mother supporting him rather than repimanding him. In such situation, how they will respect other ladies. Again the father berates / beats mother in front of his children. How will the children respect their mother if they see father setting this bad example? This social evil can be curbed and controlled, only if the control starts from home. The boy took his life out of shame. Where was this shame / sense of guilt when he was harassing the girls from his college? As someone commented, if he was not caught, we would have had another set of rapists / molestes on our hand. Good riddance of bad rubbish.

One future rapist gone. Good news. These molesters and rapists have no place in society. Hope all rapists and criminals take him as role model and follow the same.

Missing social awareness and family guidance. Children grow up without anyone to guide them properly. Schools dont do a great job either.
