Mangalore, Dec 30: Two persons allegedly planning to transport cattle illegally were beaten up by the public near Besant College here on Sunday December 29.
Basheer (22) and Sattar (23), residents of Kaup were spotted by the traffic police as they passed Nantoor from Padil in their Scorpio.
The vehicle arose suspicion as it was travelling at a high speed and also because of its registeration number that read KA-38-MC-777. When the traffic police tried to stop the car, the duo sped off.
The police control room was alerted and the car was stopped near Besant College. A crowd gathered and thrashed Basheer and Sattar, and also smashed the car.
