Udupi: Speeding Car Mows Down Two Women on Morning Walk

Udupi, Dec 27: In a tragic incident, two women were killed and another injured when a car rammed into them during their morning walk.
The incident took place on National Highway 66 near Mabukala in Pandeshwar on Wednesday December 26.
The deceased is identified as Leelavati Hebbar (56) from Irodi and Vanaja Mogaveera (47) from Mabukala. Another lady Sangeetha (22), daughter of Vanaja is said to be critical and is admitted in KMC Manipal hospital.
The incident took place at around 5.45 am, when Leelavati, Vanaja and Sangeetha were on their morning walk. On the way back towards Sastan, near Kaluvinakatte in Irodi, a speeding Toyota car which was plying from Kundapur rammed into them.
The impact was such that Leelavathi died on the spot. Vanaja and her daughter Sangeetha were rushed to Brahmavar Mahesh Hospital and later to KMC hospital in Manipal.
It was later reported that Vanaja who was unconscious also died while Sangeetha is recovering from injuries.
A case has been registered in Kota police station on the complaint of eyewitness M Chandrashekar, who was also on his morning walk.
