Mumbai, Dec 20: The Skanda Shashti ( Champa Shashti) was celebrated in a grand manner in the Sri Naga Subramanya Sannidi at Sri Subramanya Mutt, Chembur Chedda Nagar.
Various rituals and offerings were carried out to mark the Champa Shahsti, under the leadership and blessings of the Sri Subramanya Mutt Seer, Sri Sri Vidhyaprasannateertha Swamiji.
The feast commenced with the religious rituals under the priestship of Sripadh Bhat, Krishnaraja Upadhyay, Sridhar Bhat, Krishna Bhat and temple main priest, Subramanya Sharma and others. Panchamrathadi Abishekha, Prayashchitha Homa, Mahapuje, rathri puje, Thottilu Utsava and other rituals were performed on Monday, a day prior to the champa Shahsti, called as Margashira Shuddha Panchami.
Rituals were also performed on Tuesday by Vidhwan Naravi Gururaj Bhat, to mark the Champa Shashti, followed by distribution of Prasad.
Palanquin utsav was perfomed in the main streets of Chedda Nagar Main Street, followed by Mangalarathi, Bhajans and other rituals.
Aruna Acharya, Nagendra Acharya, Prof A P Mittanthaya and many other devotees were present in large numbers and received blessings from the serpent god.
