Guadalajara (Mexico), Dec 20 (IANS/EFE): A Venezuelan model was found dead in Jalisco, a state in western Mexico, nearly a week after she went missing, prosecutors told EFE.
Daisy Yenire Ferrer Arenas's body was discovered Tuesday in a canal to the east of Guadalajara, Jalisco's capital, following an anonymous tip, spokesmen for the Jalisco Attorney General's Office said.
The young woman, aged 25-30 and identified by the Mexican residence card found near her body, bore gunshot wounds to the head.
According to preliminary information gathered by investigators, the model went missing on the night of Dec 12 and no ransom demand was made prior to the discovery of the corpse.
Some of the young woman's friends told the state AG's office that Ferrer Arenas was from Venezuela and worked as a model in Jalisco, although prosecutors have requested more information on her immigration status from the Foreign Relations Secretariat.
The model lived in the city of Zapopan, part of the Guadalajara metropolitan area.
