Buenos Aires, Dec 18 (IANS): Argentine football giants Boca Juniors have confirmed Carlos Bianchi as their new coach after eight years away from the club. Bianchi has signed a three year contract with the Buenos Aires club according to Argentine daily Ole.
Bianchi replaces the unpopular Julio Cesar Flacioni, who guided the club to this year's Copa Libetaodres final before they lost to Brazilian club Corinthians, reports Xinhua.
Former star Juan Roman Riquelme is reported to have an excellent relationship with Bianchi. Rumours now abound that the 34-year-old Boca idol could make a return to the club.
Bianchi left Boca in 2004 after a hugely successful spell in-charge. During his last tenure, the side won four Argentine titles, three Copa Libertadores and two world championships.
The club's new coach has been out of managerial work for six years. His last post was with Spanish outfit Atletico Madrid, a job he left owing to his daughter's health problems.
Boca have qualified for the 2013 Libertadores and after a successful tournament this year Bianchi will be expected to lead the charge for more continental silverware.
