Mangalore, Dec 3: Two cruise vessels, Seven Seas Voayager with 650 cruise passengers and 454 crew, Seabourn Odyssey with 438 passengers and 339 crew arrived at New Mangalore Port Trust On Monday December 3.
Seas Voayager is on its third voyage and Seabourn Odyssey is on its maiden voyage to the port.
So far seven cruise vessels called at the port during the current fiscal year 2012-13.
Out of the total 1088 passengers in these two vessels from US and UK, around 1000 passengers opted for ground tour and enjoyed the scenic beauty and cultural heritage of DK district like 1000 Pillar Jain temple, monolithic statue of Gomateshwara, Soans Farm, St Aloysius Chapel, Kadri Temple, Gokarnanatha Temple, cashew factory, along with city shopping.
The tourists were taken around by the local ground tour operators, M/s Lia Travels in 40 A/C buses. Both the vessels sailed out to Cochin in the evening.
Dr P Tamilvanan, chairman stated that both the captains of the vessel gave excellent feedback on the facilities available at NMPT especially the neatness, excellent security arrangement, world class cruise lounge, greenery in and around the port and above all the outstanding hospitality extended to the passengers during their short stay in Mangalore.
