Mangalore, Dec 2: The sixth edition of the RXlife Cycle rally displayed pedal power by people of all ages, battling the early morning chill here in the city on Sunday December 2.
The rally was flagged off from Lady Hill Circle and the route went through Kottara-Panambur-NMPT and back via same way concluding at Bejai Kapikad School.
The total distance of the rally route was 20 kms.
The purpose of the rally is to provide an opportunity for children to enhance their riding skills and as a green alternative effort for short distance travel. It also focused to develop outdoor interest among the children.
As many as 1800 participants regardless of age participated in the rally. The minimum age criterion for the rally was 10 years.
The cycle rally began with the 240 cyclists in first edition in 2007. Due to this popularity, the number increased every year with 1400 cyclist participating last year.
Various arrangements like water points, dry fruits, fruits, cycle rescue van in case of breakdown, Kshema Ambulance were made available.
