Dubai: Goenchim Noketram Spins Magic at Radio Spice 'Harmony'

Dubai, Nov 30: UAE Ministry of Information and Culture and the Embassy of India, Abu Dhabi, in association with Radio Spice presented 'Harmony 2012 - Celebrating Friendship', featuring the spectacular 'Goenchim Noketram', a Goan folk and musical troupe, on Thursday November 29 at Sheikh Rashid Stadium, Dubai.
The cultural event was organized under the leadership of Herman Lewis of Radio Spice 105.4, Dubai.
The main objective of the event was to unite all communities under Harmony, especially the two main Konkani communities of Mangaloreans and Goans.
The mega show began at around 8 pm with the introduction of brass band, followed by a beautiful dance presentation of evergreen hit 'Havn Saiba Poltodi Vetam' (Dekhni), a beautiful folk dance.
The main co-ordinator of the show Herman Lewis welcomed the special guests including the Consular General of India in Abu Dhabi and sponsors present on the occasion. He also thanked them all for their presence and all the sponsors for their generous contribution towards the event on such a short notice, and especially Ronald Colaco, a well-known entrepreneur of Dubai. The welcome address was followed by lighting of traditional lamp and oath-taking.
Addressing the gathering, Ronald Colaco said it was an opportunity for all Goans and Mangaloreans to come together at a home away from home and be part of the harmony and friendship building event. He lauded Herman Lewis for putting up such a grand shown in a matter of just seven days and concluded his note saying, "Herman has brought Harmony today."
All the guests were felicitated with bouquets and honoured and certificates of appreciation were also distributed.
After the brief stage programme, wonderful Goan songs and traditional dances were performed, including Sobit Amchem Goa, Fugdi dance, Novelty Dances, songs, Tribal Gaudi Dance, Portugese Dances, Kharvi Dances, Medley, Baila, Mando and several lovely Konkani solo and duet numbers that entertained the crowd totally and left a memorable mark about Goan folk, culture, language and tradition.
The entire cultural show was conducted by emcees of the day Preety and John from Goa who kept the audience engaged throughout with their lively compering.
