Mumbai, Nov 27: Konkan Sabha of Jnana- Deepa Vidyapeeth (JDV) organized a variety entertainment programme on the Sunday November 25 at Papal Seminary hall, Pune. The priests, religious sisters, and brothers who are the members of JDV Konkan Sabha exhibited their talents through various programmes.
The Konkan Sabha of JDV was established in the year 1976 with the aim of fostering unity and friendship among the Konkani speaking staff and students of the institute hailing from different Konkani speaking regions. The Konkani cultural unity (Ekvott) is displayed at JDV through a number of activities carried out. It had a humble beginning. Now it has become a giant tree. Many Priests, brothers and sisters have given their mite in this venture.
Mangalorean Catholic Association, Pune, which is vibrant in Pune and the well wishers contributed wholeheartedly through various dances. The documentary on Konkani culture, Dulpodam, Dekhni, Mando/Baila, musical concert and mime titled ‘You are the light of the world’ were the highlights of the day.
The noted Konkani writer Isidore Dantas was the chief guest. He appreciated the Konkani culture and thanked JDV Konkani Sabha for helping to keep the mother tongue alive through various activities.
The president of JDV Konkani Sabha, Br Anthony D’Souza, SJ welcomed the gathering.
The animator of JDV Konkani Sabha, Fr Henry D’Almeida, SJ spoke on the occasion.
The Souvenir, which comprises of the articles written by priests, brothers, sisters and other well-wishers and the names of the sponsors of the programme was released by Fr Vincent Crasta, SJ.
Sr Monica Cardoza and Fr Ivan D’Souza compered the programme.
The cultural coordinator of JDV Konka Sabha Br Joyson Vas, SJ thanked the gathering.
Many Konkani speaking people and well wishers gathered and added flavor to the programme.
