Mumbai, Nov 22: Our Lady of the Rosary Parish celebrated its Parish Association Day, for the second year in succession, here recently. The celebration started with the Mass in the morning celebrated by the parish priest, Fr Frank Fernandes. The liturgy for the Mass was specially prepared by Fr Bosco.
In his welcome address, Fr. Frank said that each of us has a charisma which we bring to the association or group that we belong to. He cited examples like the SVP, who care for the needy families, Bombay Catholic Sabha whose members offer their services to help Parishioners with the paper work for obtaining UID, Sr. Citizens’ Card, PAN Card etc. He said that we should work with love and in unity, encouraging each other rather than discouraging each other.
The Mazagaon parish has 21 associations/groups/ministries. Approximately 120 people attended the get-together that morning. Parishioners with diverse cultures and community backgrounds came together on a common platform to partake of the fun and games. Entertaining games for all age groups, from kids of age group 8 to adults of age group 80, were organised keeping in mind amusement and bonding.
Zeena Nazareth, compere, did an excellent job. She had the crowd engaged and on the floor from the start, either taking part in the games or dancing.
From the start people participated very enthusiastically, and danced in joyful spirit. There also was a lot of good-natured rivalry. People stayed with their groups throughout the morning and took part in other group games that followed.
Yolanda Gonsalves proposed the vote of thanks and Sr Saroj said the Grace before meals.
This celebration of the Association Day really showed unity, harmony and a sense of belonging in the Parish.
Regie Lobo, Martin Cardoso, Zeena Nazareth, Ismenia Gonsalves along with the Parish Council members were instrumental in organizing this get-together.
