Moodbidri: Bus Rams into Electric Pole, Two Sustain Serious Injuries

Moodbidri, Nov 20: A bus plying from Kinnigoli to Moodbidri rammed into an electric pole and a wall near Moodbidri bus stop here on Tuesday November 20, grievously injuring two pedestrians.
The injured have been identified as Satish (29) of Kervase and Satish (21) of Konaje. They have been admitted to Alva's hospital with serious injuries.
The accident occured when the driver of the bus 'Chakra' lost control while bringing the vehicle to a halt at the bus stop. The bus jerked backwards, hitting a wall and an electric pole, and injuring the two pedestrians.
A Honda Activa which was parked nearby was also damaged in the incident.
At 8 am the bus dropped passengers at Samaja Mandira entrance and then moved towards the bus stop. Luckily, it did not move down the road as that would have resulted in a major tragedy.
Town municipal president Ratnakar Devadiga rushed to the spot and with the help of locals and police got the broken electric pole and debris cleared.
The locals said that the spot is known for such mishaps. Buses plying from Mangalore as well as Karkala often meet with accidents when people or other vehicles come in the way.
A big crowd gathered at the spot.
Moodbidri police are investigating.
