Mangalore: City's First Christmas Concert Ushers in Joy of Season

Mangalore, Nov 17: The staff, students and alumni of Manipal University of Mangalore campus organized a Christmas concert and ushered the spirit of Christmas well in advance at St Sebastian Platinum Jubilee Auditorium here on Saturday November 17.
This was the 7th edition of Christmas Concert ever since it was first organized in 2006. The concert was organized as an early celebration of Christmas as December is packed with academic schedules and examinations.
Students, regardless of religion, caste or belief took part in the fun-filled concert. A skit titled 'The Prodigal Son' also enthralled the audience. Carol songs and violin and mouth organ music filled the atmosphere with the spirit of Christmas. A mime act behind the screen, portraying the importance of values life, was a special attraction.
The concert brought generations together, shedding light on peace, tolerance and goodwill.
The concert comprised vocal renditions of contemporary as well as classical carols, and virtuoso instrumental pieces being played. The arrival of the hearty Santa Claus added joy to the occasion, among children and elders alike.
