Unconfirmed sources said that the people of Kerala were involved in the thefts with help from some locals. Houses of people who have family members working abroad have been mainly targeted. Hawala money is said to be flowing from abroad, which is said to be the reason behind the thefts, say locals.
Police Apathy
When the incident came to the light at around 3 am on Sunday, the neighbours and the locals immediately informed the police. However, the answer was unexpected. According to the locals, the police answered, “Why should we come now when the thieves have already left the spot?"
"Even though we informed the police at around 3 am, the police arrived at the spot only at 10 am," the locals lamented.
A canine squad and fingerprint experts then arrived at the spot.
"It shows the apathy of police officials towards the recent theft cases taking place in the vicinity," the locals said.
