New Delhi, Nov 6 (IANS): Top leaders of Bharatiya Janata Party are to meet in the national capital Tuesday evening, amidst controversies surrounding party president Nitin Gadkari. Some party leaders have openly demanded Gadkari's resignation.
Top party leaders will meet at senior party leader L.K. Advani's residence at 5 p.m. Tuesday, a party member said.
Veteran lawyer and BJP Rajya Sabha member Ram Jethmalani Tuesday demanded Gadkari's ouster from the party presidentship, and added that other leaders, including Jaswant Singh, Yashwant Sinha and Shatrughan Sinha, were of the same opinion.
A party member, talking to IANS, admitted that support for Gadkari is depleting with controversies and corruption charges deepening.
The BJP has been targeting the Congress-led central government on issues of corruption, and therefore has been keen to project a clean image of itself.
