New Delhi, Nov 6 (IANS): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Sushma Swaraj Tuesday described as "absolutely false" reports that she was no longer supporting party president Nitin Gadkari.
"The media reports that I am not supporting Shri Nitin Gadkari are absolutely false. I have always supported him and I reiterate my support," leader of opposition in the Lok Sabha said in a message on the microblogging site Twitter.
Gadkari, who is allegedly involved in questionable business deals, had earlier in the day met Sushma Swaraj along with party general secretary H.N. Ananth Kumar here.
India Against Corruption had alleged that Gadkari had acquired farmers' land fir his trust through dubious means. Gadkari had strongly denied the charges.
The BJP chief found himself in controversy again Monday as he compared Swami Vivekananda's IQ with that of fugitive don Dawood Ibrahim.
BJP leader Mahesh Jethmalani used the remark as a trigger to quit the party's national executive and demanded that Gadkari should not be given another term as party president.
His father, lawyer and party MP Ram Jethmalani, further fuelled fires Tuesday by saying that senior BJP leaders Yashwant Sinha, Jaswant Singh and Shatrughan Sinha were with him in wanting Gadkari to step down.
