Beijing, Nov 6 (IANS): China's third largest hydropower station became operational Monday, Xinhua reported.
The 800,000 kw-capacity Xiangjiaba hydropower station began working at 4.30 p.m. after a three-day test run, Xinhua quoted its operator China Three Gorges Corp as saying.
The construction of the dam on Jinsha river, a major headstream of the Yangtze, started in 2006. The station is designed to generate 30.8 billion kwh a year.
