Mangalore: Mass Marriage by Bearys Welfare Forum - 16 Couples Tie the Knot

Mangalore, Nov 4: Bearys Welfare Forum, Abu Dhabi organized mass marriage for 16 couples at Milagres Church Hall here on Sunday November 4.
The Nikhah was performed by Mangalore Qazi Twaka Ahmed Musliyar. Udupi Qazi P M Ibrahim Musliyar inaugurated the event. UAE Exchange COO, Y Sudhir Kumar Shetty and Althaf Kateeb, partner, Suhail Al Mazroui Est, Abu Dhabi were the guests of honour.
B A Mohidin, former state minister was the chief guest.
Speaking after the inauguration, Udupi Qazi Ibrahim Musliyar said that such kind of good works are needed in order to strengthen the community. "Mass marriage is a sacred and divine work, through which we will be blessed in the after-life also," he said.
"Brides have to be selected for their knowledge towards the religion and not their beauty. As priority is being given only to beauty, the present day troubles in life are occuring," he added.
Sudhir Shetty said that people from here go abroad mainly for the purpose of earning a livelihood. "People abroad are busy with their jobs, but associations like BWF are doing laudable work. Public support by all means is required for such associations in order to come up and render their service further."
B A Moideen in his address said that Islam is a pure religion and the present situations or issues wouldn't have been there if the religion had been followed perfectly. "There would have been no neccessity to organize mass marriages if Islam had been properly followed," he opined.
He also suggested that the forum members have constant contact with the wedded couples and collect feedbacks, instead of limiting themself themselves to only conducting the marriages.
Haji S M Rasheed, chairman, Melkar educational trust, M B Abdul Rahiman, former president, Karnataka Beary Sahitya Academy, Muhammed Badruddin, chairman, Al Wafa Charitable Trust, Mangalore, Haji B M Mumtaz Ali, chairman, Al Badriya Educational Institutions, Krishnpura, Janab Mohammed Ammen, president, Kanara Chamber of Commerce and Industry and B M Shareef, owner, Ocean Gold were also present.
A large number of relatives, friends, well-wishers of the couples and BWF members attended the ceremony.
