New Delhi, Nov 4 (IANS): The Sikkim government will provide houses to 30,000 people from the economically weaker sections, a state government statement said Sunday.
"The houses will be provided to people living in 'kutcha' houses as on January 1, 2011," it said.
This scheme is part of Mission Poverty Free Sikkim.
"Each house will have four rooms comprising two bedrooms, a kitchen-cum-dining room, a toilet and a verandah, measuring a total plinth area of 605 square feet".
The cost of each house will be Rs.3.5 lakh, which will be constructed by the beneficiary through financial assistance given in four instalments through account payee cheques.
Construction of the houses will be monitored by Block Rural House Construction Committees.
