Udupi, Nov 3: Cyclone Nilam has unleashed her fury in the Karnataka coast too, though the intensity may be much less. As heavy rains continued to lash the Udupi and Dakshina Kannada in the aftermath of cyclone in Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh, agriculture in the district has been heavily effected.
Agricultural crops have been completely washed away by the water, rendering them useless. Farmers are unable to take the soggy crops home.
The heavy downpour in the past two days has resulted in water logging in the fields. Several low lying places are inundated and as a result in Kaup, Padubidri, Shirva, Katapady and several others places, paddy crops in several acres of land have been destroyed.
Rains have brought pain to the farmers as all their efforts have gone in vain. They are helpless as they cannot save their crops from rotting.
