Mangalore: M R Vasudeva Accorded Fitting Farewell

Mangalore, Nov 1: "In a scenario where one has only limited time and opportunity to achieve success, M R Vasudeva has turned out to be a role model for others by constantly working hard, to the point where Mangalore Airport has earned international status," said Shree Kshetra Dharmasthala Dharmadhikari Rajashree Dr D Veerendra Heggade here on Wednesday October 31.
He was delivering his presidential address at the farewell programme to bid adieu to outgoing director of Mangalore International Airport M R Vasudeva at the old airport terminal in Bajpe. The farewell programme was organized by Airport Employees union.
Dr Heggade felicitated M R Vasudeva and his wife Nagaratna by offering them a gold ring and a shawl.
Airport regional executive director D Devaraj speaking on the occasion said that cargo handling will be commissioned in the airport by next month and the runway extension will also take place soon. He sought the guidance from M R Vasudeva in the days to come.
Senior Yakshagana critic Dr Prabhakar Joshi delivered the congratulatory speech. He said that an MSc holder, M R Vasudeva joined the labour ministry as a field officer in Shimla. "Taking up an entirely different career as compared to his academic stream, M R Vasudeva has achieved success in an exemplary way. He was ready to help anyone," he said, and added that Vasudeva was an expert in radar control technology and navigation.
Accepting the felicitation, M R Vasudeva said that he had every support from the Airport Authority of India in every step of the way. He called upon every citizen to nurture and continue their support to Mangalore Airport. "I am proud to acknowledge that Mangalore Airport was converted into an international airport during my tenure," he said.
New Mangalore International Airport director J T Radhakrishna, diamond jubilee committee convener K Tejomaya, Bajpe Grama Panchayath president Shahul Hameed, Harikrishna Punaroor, Mohammed Ameen of KCCI, Pascal Pinto among others were present.
Airport DGM A Shreenivasan welcomed. V M Shivanna performed the recitation. Ram Pradeep delivered vote of thanks. Senior journalist and Udayavani Mangalore bureau chief Manohar Prasad compered the programme.
