M'lore: Police Nab Chain-snatchers, Recover Gold, Cash Worth Rs 8 Lac

Mangalore, Nov 1: Police on Wednesday October 31 arrested two chain snatchers at Falnir and recovered gold and cash worth Rs 8 lac.
The arrested are identified as Vincent D’Souza (48), resident of Ullal and Naveen Sequeira (39), resident of Thokottu.
Police have altogether seized 288 grams of gold, Rs 75,000 in cash and a motorbike, altogether worth Rs 8 lac.
The two have been involved in various theft cases earlier, said police sources.
The duo had snatched two gold chains belonging to Veeramma from Kudroli, one belonging to Geetha Balakrishna on Febrauary 13, and two chains of Leelavathi Shetty near Kadri on October 3.
Police on authentic information caught hold of Vincent near Falnir and later with the help of information provided by him, they traced Naveen.
It is learnt that Vincent’s leg was badly injured in a train accident a few years back. Despite being lame, he used to ride his bike and while his accomplice Naveen used to snatch the chain and flee from the spot.
ACP Kavitha, Manjunath Shetty, Bunder circle inspector, SI Ramakrishna, PC Ravi and Ramesh under the guidance of D Dharmaiah, DCP (crime and traffic) carried out the investigation.
