Kasargod: Three Inter-state Thieves, Ganja Peddlers Arrested

Kasargod, Oct 30: Kasargod police led by circle inspector Babu Peringyat have arrested three inter-state thieves and recovered 56 sovereigns of gold and cash worth lacs. The thieves have been involved in more than a hundred cases, said district police chief S Surendran.
The accused have been identified as Rabdin Saleem (38), resident of Thiruvallur, Tamil Nadu, Abdul Rahiman alias Abbu (44), resident of Mayippady and Abdul Rahiman (38) of Chowki.
The accused have also been involved in cases related to ganja, it is learnt.
Two more accused, Mohammed Najeeb and Sajeer alias Nawaz are absconding, Surendran said.
The arrested were involved in a theft which took place on September 13 at a house at Melparamba Kuvatthottu, belonging to Haneef, a Gulf employee. They broke into the house and decamped with nearly 70 sovereigns of gold and cash. Rabdin Saleem is said to be the prime accused in the case.
All three have been booked in various cases in police stations of Kumble, Kasargod, Badiyadka and others.
They are also the accused in the theft cases of Kodyame, Bambrana, Palatara, Belluru and other places.
Rabdin is the second accused in the theft-cum-murder case of Dennis Crasta, a security guard at Perdala Cooperative Bank Branch, Neerchali in 2006. Both Abbu and Abdul Rahiman used to assist Rabdin in his crimes.
Police said that the accused had been selling the stolen ornaments in Andhra Pradesh. They were also involved in the supplying ganja from Andhra to various parts of the city, Surendran said. The accused have admitted to smuggling two quintals of ganja so far, he added.
Rabdin Saleem was released from jail three months ago, after he was nabbed in connection to a theft case.
The accused have been remanded in judicial custody, more details are awaited after investigations.
