New Delhi, Oct 29 (IANS) Pakistan may allow a team of Indian investigators a visit to examine evidence collected by Pakistan against November 2008 Mumbai terror attacks, but the dates are yet to be decided, an official said Monday.

"Pakistan has in principle agreed to allow the National Investigation Agency (NIA) team a visit," a home ministry official said here Monday.

"We are awaiting intimation of the dates on which the team could visit," the official said.

The NIA team would try to understand why a Pakistani court in Rawalpindi, trying the key accused in the Mumbai terror strikes, was not ready to accept the evidence collected by an eight-member Pakistani judicial commission during its visit to India in March this year.

The demand for the NIA's visit was first made in September this year by Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde when he met his Pakistani counterpart Rehman Malik on the sidelines of a ministerial meeting of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) in the Maldives.

Soon after the Pakistani commission's evidence was not taken on record by the Rawalpindi court, the Pakistan government wanted India to allow the panel to visit again to collect evidence that could be of use in their court.

But India wanted its NIA team to go to Pakistan first before it considered the request for the re-visit of the Pakistani judicial commission.
