UAE: Fujairah Church Celebrates 10 Years of its Consecration

Fujairah (UAE), Oct 28: The Church dedicated to Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Fujairah has completed 10 years of its consecration. The Church serves the needs of the faithful of Fujairah, Kalba, Khorfakkan and Dibba. To mark the 10th anniversary a solemn Eucharistic celebration was offered on Thursday October 25.
The beautiful church was built in 2002 under the leadership of Fr Michael Cardoz, the first parish priest of Fujairah parish. On October 25, 2002, the new Church was consecrated by Archbishop Giuseppe De Andrea, the Apostolic Nuncio.
Bishop Paul Hinder presided over the Mass which was concelebrated by 12 priests. The bishop emphasized on the importance of the devotion to Mother Mary in one's life. "She is the Ark of the Covenant who intercedes for us at all times," he said.
A short programme was held after the mass. Fr Jayapalan, the Provincial of Salesians and Fr Raj, the former principal of St Mary’s Catholic High School Fujairah, who celebrate their silver jubilees of priesthood and religious life, were felicitated.
The Bishop also released the 10th Anniversary Souvenir on the occasion. The new website of the church www.olphfujairah.org was inaugurated during the programme.
Melvin Vas, the vice-president of the parish council welcomed and conducted the proceedings. Parish priest Fr Patrick thanked everyone for their leadership and co-operation.
A short cultural programme was presented by the children and youth of the parish.
