Mangalore, Oct 28: Rarely has the city witnessed such an electrifying atmosphere, as was set by the energetic Dandiya Nite at Bharath Mall here on Saturday October 27.
The event, organized by Fusion 5 in association with Western Institute of Technology as part of Navaratri celebrations, witnessed an ecstatic crowd of close to a thousand people dancing and grooving to lively and peppy music all through the evening and into the night.
The dance mania kicked off with what the nite was all about - Dandiya, the popular dance of Gujarat. Dandiya specialist DJ Jainish who came all the way from Surat set the ball rolling. The crowd swung to the beats of Dandiya numbers, enraptured completely in the magic of the moment. Women dressed in traditional Gujarati arttires added much charm to the atmosphere.
Ace dancer Kishore of Dance India Dance fame then took over, evoking loud cheers from the crowd. The andrenaline ran high as the music rose to a crescendo, reverberating for miles around. Remix versions of popular numbers in Hindi charged the crowd into a frenzy. Bollywood numbers were the order of the day, with some of the songs compelling even the slow starters to shake a leg on the dance floor.
The star of the evening was of course, Raghav, popularly known as Crockroaxz, who rose to fame with Zee TV's Dance India Dance Season 3, followed by Dance India Dance Li'l Masters Season 2. He set the stage on fire with his trademark slow motion dance, and for every person, young and old, who had gathered there to catch a glimpse of the dancing diva, it was an evening to remember for a long time to come.
Comperes for evening Hisrar and Reena, dressed for the occasion in traditional Dandiya attires, kept the mood alive with their peppy, warm and witty interaction with the crowd. Exciting spot games and contests had the crowd vying for some big prizes like LCD TV, microwave and gift vouchers.
Earlier in the evening, deputy mayor Amithakala inaugurated the event in the presence of Stephen Mendes of Western Institute of Technology. Addressing the gathering, Amithakala conveyed her best wishes for the success of the event.
