Mangalore: Police Catch Three Thieves, Recover Items Stolen from Temples

Mangalore, Oct 27: Three persons have been arrested by the Kadri police in relation to thefts at temples and a house.
The arrested are Harish Poojary (35), a resident of Kulavoor, Ramesh (32), resident of Hoige Bazar and Vishwanath Devadiga (28), a resident of Beltangady.
All three are accused of stealing a gold chain, a silver eye mask and a silver crown of idols from Nantoor Koragajja Gudi and Maryhill Koragajja Temple, a two-wheeler from the vicinity of Yogeshwar Math, and silver articles and cash from Mulky Talippady Mahamayi Temple.
They are also accused in the theft of gold ornaments, electronic appliances and cash from a house named 'Kemral' in Mulky.
The value of the total items recovered from the trio stands at Rs 1,62,675.
The three were caught during a routine vehicle checking by Kadri police led by inspector Raghava Padil near Kadri Kambala on Friday October 26. The police happended to find that the vehicle the three were riding was a stolen one.
On interrogation, it was learnt that they were involved in the above related thefts too. Cases have been registered against them for various offences.
