Mangalore: Four Youths Kidnapped, Beaten Up

Mangalore, Oct 25: Four youths who were returning home after work were reportedly kidnapped and thrashed by a group of more than 15 at Nadupadavu here on Tuesday October 23.
In this regard police have arrested two persons and have seized a Scorpio car and three bikes. Search is on for the prime accused Kalandar and others.
The arrested are identified as Abdul Nazir of Manjanadi and Abbas of Kairangala in Padenjaalu. They were produced the court.
The incident took place when Ismail, Nisaar, Zafar and Shafi were returning from work to Montepadavu in an auto rickshaw. A group of over 15 people stopped the rickshaw with their car and bikes and took them to Kalandar’s place where they were beaten up. However, Shafi somehow managed to escape from their hands.
Shafi informed about the incident to police and locals, who rushed to Kalandar’s house. The accused tried to flee, but the police managed to catch two of them.
It is said that the youths (excluding Shafi) had seen Kalandar indulging in immoral activities and spotted him with a girl 15 days back. The three had also informed about this to the locals. Annoyed by this, Kalaandar along with his associates planned the revenge.
The locals who gathered in large numbers pelted stones at Kalaandar’s house and gathered in front of Konaje police station demanding the arrest of the culprits soon.
Police sources said that they have identified 16 people involved in the act and most of them were relatives of Kalandar.
