Kundapur: Chaos at Tallur After Drivers Engage in Brawl

Kundapur, Oct 22: Chaos prevailed at Tallur near Hemmadi on national highway 66 here on Monday October 22 following a minor issue over overtaking between a private bus and a Mahindra pick-up vehicle.
The accident took place at Tallur circle when the pick-up truck carrying logs and plying from Gangolli to Kundapur overtook a Mahadevi bus travelling in the same direction and came in the latter's way. This led to a confrontation, with the result that the pick-up vehicle driver Ratnakar allegedly caught hold of bus driver Krishna by his shirt. Angered at this, Krishna brought a rod from the bus and reportedly beat up Ratnakar.
Ratnakar, while trying to defend himself and avoid getting hit on the chest, ended up breaking his arm. He was admitted to Chinmayee Hospital in Kundapur.
The locals who gathered at the spot surrounded the bus and allegedly thrashed the bus driver. Tallur rickshaw drivers' union president Shekar Poojary and others intervened in the matter and prevented further damage.
As a result of the incident, traffic was affected for about half-an-hour on the highway.
Kundapur traffic police as well as other policemen rushed to the sport and brought the situation under control.
A case has been registered in Kundapur police station.
