Bantwal, Oct 22: "A state industrial security force (SISF) has been formed to guard dams, IT sector and power plants in the state. As many as 2,000 recruiments have already been made to the force and within a month they will be appointed," said home minister R Ashok.
He was speaking during his visit to Bantwal on Monday October 22 to inaugurate new buildings of Punjalkatte and Bantwal town police stations. The buildings have been built at a cost of Rs 56 lac each.
He said that until now, the central industrial security force (CISF) was handling the security of dams, IT sector and power plants, but now the new secuirty force will take over. The move has been initiated given the increased terror threat to the coastal areas, he added.
Asserting that it was very important to beef up security in the 300-km coastal line, he said, "Seven new police stations have been sanctioned in the coastal areas to increase security. Modern weapons will also be provided.
"Every police station in the coastal area will have an intelligence wing, which will gather information about intruders by communicating with fishermen. A sum of Rs 30,000 will be provided annually to each intelligence wing for this purpose," he added.
He further said, "The new building of Punjalkatte police station has been constructed with a view to safeguard the law and order situation in the locality and handle complaints efficiently."

"The parents urged for a CoD probe into the case. Though scientific investigations have proved the culpability of the accused Santhosh Rao, we are ready to hand over the case to CoD. I will take guidance in this matter from Dhamsthala Dharmadhikari Dr D Veerendra Heggade," he said.
Regarding growing demand for a police station in Dharmasthala, he said a proposal is already in place and the same is being scrutinized. "Action in this matter will be taken soon," he assured.
On the Naxal issue, he said it was very important for the government to opt for cease fire and give the Naxals a chance to come to the mainstream. "But the government's plan did not succeed and anymore, the Anti-Naxal Force will take action. Combing operations are already on," he said, adding that the Naxal strength in the state had come down.
