Udupi: ‘Chinthana Samavesha’ Held at Kaup, 18 Achievers Felicitated

Udupi, Oct 20: The Navodaya Grama Vikasa Charitable Trust (R), Kodialbail, Mangalore under the leadership of M N Rajendra Kumar, president, SCDCC Bank, organized ‘Chinthana Samavesha’ for Navodaya self help groups in Kaup at Vidyaniketana School premises, here, on Saturday October 20.
The programme was inaugurated by women of Navodaya self help group belonging to various religions. They lit an auspicious lamp to mark the inauguration.
During the programme, Bharatha Bushana Swastishri Bhataraka Charukeerthi Pandithacharyavariya Mahaswamiji felicitated 18 achievers from various fields like arts, agriculture, medicine, sports, literature, social service among others.
Devi Prasad Shetty, Bellapu accepting the honour from Swamiji said “My heart fills with joy on this occasion. This is the most precious time in my life and I can never forget this moment. M N Rajendra Kumar will remain permanently in the history.”
Addressing the gathering, Charukeerthi Swamiji said, “People of various countries admire India for its spirituality. India is rich in spirituality. People from different places, religions, castes have gathered here which symbolizes the social harmony. M N Rajendra Kumar has proved his potentiality by gathering them on secular principle; the source doesn’t come from physical entities, but from the people who are real asset to the society. May this Mahalakshmi puja bring peace in everybody’s life", he added.
K P Acharya thanked Rajendra Kumar for organizing the programme in the campus. He suggested the latter to follow the thoughts of the great Chanakya. “25% reduction of school fees will be provided for the children of Navodaya Grama Vikasa members”, he said.
Entrepreneur Suresh Shetty also spoke on the occasion.
Fr. Stany Tauro, priest of Aroghya Mathe Church, Shirva said, “Rajendra Kumar has empowered women through self help groups and brought changes in the grass root level”. He concluded by narrating the story of Mother Theresa.
Abdull Rehman Madani Kathiba of Mulur Juma Masjid said that the programme resembles the life of all religions. “No religion preaches terrorism, every religion preaches peace”, he said.
Entrepreneur Rohan Monthero, Managing Director, Property Infra Tech Pvt Ltd., appreciated Rajendra Kumar for empowering rural women by making them self-reliant, helping them to lead secured life in the society.
Rajendra Kumar in his presidential address said, “On this auspicious occasion of Navaratri we have arranged the Mahalakshmi puja. This puja is meant for the people. I consider all who have gathered here as my family members.”
“To maintain uniformity we have distributed uniforms to the self help group. I will always support good people to get into politics. We should live our life for others. Social service should be our duty. 13 years ago Dr Veerendra Heggade inaugurated this self group which has now grown to an enormous size”, he said.
Mahalakshmi puja was performed on the occasion.
During the occasion sports equipments, compensations for two families of self help groups were handed over.
