Mangalore, Oct 20: The idol of deity Sharada Devi worshipped for the 90 year as part of Sarvajanika Shree Sharada Mahothsava at Acharya Mutt of Shree Venkataramana temple located at Car street was taken out in a procession on Thursday.
Various religious programmes have been organized this year and Kashi Mutt pontiff Shreemad Sudhindra Theertha Swamiji installed the idol of deity Sharada Matha at 9:30pm. He also offered a golden crown in memory of 90 year of celebration.
There will be series of religious programmes from October 20 to October 24, Mahapooja being held in the afternoon and Rangapooja at 9pm.
Shatha Chandika Yaga is scheduled to be held on October 21 and mass feeding (Sarvajanika Anna Santharpane) will be held in the afternoon same day. The idol will be immersed on October 23 and the Deepalankara Pooja will be held on October 24.
Various cultural programmes are planned to be held at Shree Saraswathi Kala Mantap everyday on the occasion. Dance programmes, Hindustani musical concert, devotional song singing, a lecture ‘Bharatha Darshana’ by orator Chakravarthi Soolibele, orchestra, bhajans have been organized.
Shree Sharada Mahotsava Samithi president Dr Umananda Mallya, Venkataramana temple trustee C L Shenoy, secretary Krishna Shenoy, Pandith Narasimha Acharya of Acharya Mutt, Suresh Acharya, Jayanth Acharya, chief priest Bhasker Bhat, among others were present.
