Canada Coach Resigns Following World Cup Exit

Ottawa, Oct 19 (IANS): Two days after Canada was eliminated from the 2014 World Cup CONCACAF qualifying zone, Stephen Hart has resigned as the head coach, the Canadian Soccer Association (CSA) said.

Victor Montagliani, president of the CSA, confirmed that Hart had quit Thursday, reports Xinhua.

Canada, who needed a tie or win to advance to next year's six-nation finals in North and Central America and the Caribbean, lost 1-8 to Honduras Tuesday.

The seven-goal loss was its largest margin since an 0-8 defeat to Mexico in 1993.
