Moscow, Oct 19 (IANS/RIA Novosti): Spartak Moscow midfielder Aiden McGeady will be out for two weeks with a foot injury, the football club has said.
McGeady was hurt on international duty with Ireland this week and will miss Saturday's clash against Russian Premier League leaders Anzhi Makhachkala and the Champions League match against Benfica next Tuesday.
"The medical examination revealed an inflammation of small bones on the midfielder's right foot." Spartak's doctor Mikhail Vartapetov said on the club's website Thursday.
"His treatment will take at least two weeks."
McGeady played in both of Ireland's World Cup qualifiers last week, a 1-6 home defeat to Germany and a 4-1 away win over the Faroe Islands.
He did not appear injured during the second match and played the full 90 minutes.
This season, McGeady has scored two goals in 13 appearances for Spartak, who are sixth in the Premier League on the brink of an early Champions League exit after losing their first two matches.
