Mangalore: Ocean Kids in Semi-finals of 'India's Got Talent'

Mangalore, Oct 19: Here's yet another reason for Mangaloreans to rejoice.
City-based dance group Ocean Kids has reached the semi-finals of the famed 'India’s Got Talent' on Colors channel.
The troupe was started in the year 1988, and since then has trained over 5,000 students in India and the UAE.
The speciality of this team is that they pick concepts from mythology especially like Ramayana, Navadurga and so on, and also general themes like culture, social cause, global warming, and others.
They performed on Navadurga in the first round of the competation, and in the second their performance was based on Ramayana. The 3-minute performances impressed judges and won them standing ovation.
For their next performance in the semi-final, they will give a choice of six themes, out of which the judges will choose one for performance. The concepts chosen by the team are Shakuntala, Pancha bhootha, Agori, Women Power, Nataraj and Indian Patriotism.
Their first performance, Navadurga has won them immense attention and appreciation from the public..
The Ramayana, an epic mytholgy had 33 dancers in all, which in Navadurga 9 women and 12 men performed.
The semi-final spot was decided based on public vote and judges' decision equally.
The voting lines are open on the day of the telecast, that s, every wekkend at 10 pm.

Pramod Alva, the choreographer urged the public to support them as there were no winners in the earlier seasons from the South.
Vijeth Nayak, Gowtham, Swapna and Girish were also present at the press meet held here on Friday October 19.
In earlier seasons, magician Kudroli Ganesh and artist Vilas Nayak from Ujire had made it the finals, but did not win.
