Kundapur, Oct 19: The Karwar – Yashwantpur train flagged off on Thursday, brought joy to the people belonging to the coastal areas here on October 18.
The train will travel to Bangalore via Mysore and it is the only train which reaches Yashwantpur through the Majestic terminal, said Kenchanoor Somashekar Shetty, president of Kundapur Railway Hitarakshana Samithi.
The Kundapur Hitarakshana Samithi, Rotary club, Lion’s club and many other associations were present on the occasion to flag off the new train.
The first train reached Kundapur railway station around 5:25 pm, people from various associations along with the locals decorated the train and celebrated the moment by offering pooja and distributing sweets. The train was flagged off at 5:35pm from the station.
It may be recalled that the Kundapur railway Hitarakshna Samithi came to existence one year back. Since then, it has been working towards better railway arrangements and development. They have distributed around 3000 pamplets with train timings for the benefit of the public.
Ganapathi T Shriyan, member of Koteshwar Zilla Panchayat member, Radhakrishna Shenoy, managing head of Kundapur Venkataramana temple, Sachidannand Shetty, Seetharam Hegde, Chandrashekar Thallur, Prakashchandra Shetty, Sudhakar Shetty, Vivek Nayak, HS Hatwar, Nagaraj Achar, president of Koteshwar rotary, Ganesh Shetty, Kishan Kenchanoor, president of Lion’s club, Y Jayaprakash Shetty among others were present.
